Field Color: Locked, Required, and Optional Fields |
USTUR health physics database |
Index |
 |
| The color of a field indicates whether it is a locked (light gray), required (aqua), or optional (white) field. |
The USTUR database utilizes three different types of fields. Locked fields display data; required fields must be entered by the user; and optional fields can be left blank if information is unavailable.
Locked Fields (light gray)
 |
Locked fields are light gray in color. The data in these fields are for display purposes only. The data in them are automatically calculated by the database and cannot be entered or edited by the user. |
Required Fields (aqua)
 |
Required fields are aqua in color. The user must enter data into all required fields. If a required field is left blank the record cannot be saved and the following warning message will be generated: "You cannot add or change a record because a related record is required in '[table name]'." |
Optional (white)
 |
Optional fields are white in color. Optional fields should always be completed, unless the appropriate data are unavailable. If an optional field must be left blank, the database will save a null (blank) value. |
