The health physics database consists of nine primary data tables (Tables A.1 - A.9) and nineteen validation tables (Tables A.10 - A.28). Each validation table is linked to one or more fields in the primary tables and/or other validation tables. Valid field entries are then limited to records in the validation table to which they are linked. For example, the 'Period Unit' field in tbl_AirMonitoring is linked to the vUnit validation table. The value of 'Period Unit' is thus restricted to the list of units stored in vUnit. This ensures that data is entered consistently (i.e. no spelling errors).
